We contact CareFirst to check your coverage, copay, and deductible ahead of your first visit.
You'll know what we expect the visit to cost. We'd ask you to confirm your benefits with CareFirst too — a check is what the plan tells us in advance, not a final ruling.

Which of these your plan covers, and at what copay, depends on your individual CareFirst policy.
A benefits check tells us what CareFirst expects to cover, and that's a good working estimate. It isn't a guarantee of payment — coverage is finally decided when your claim is processed, and occasionally a gap only becomes visible at that point. If a balance remains, we'll bill you for it and talk you through the options:
Confirming your benefits remains your responsibility as the policyholder. We check coverage with CareFirst as a courtesy, but the terms of your plan are between you and your insurer — the member services number on your card is the surest source. See full fees · Uninsured or self-pay clients are entitled to a written Good Faith Estimate before scheduling.
See us in person in Woodbridge, Fredericksburg or Stafford, or by secure video anywhere in Virginia. Your CareFirst coverage applies the same way wherever you're seen.

Yes. Godaelli Psychiatry & Mental Health Center is in-network with CareFirst in Virginia. What you pay — your copay, your deductible, and which services your policy includes — varies from plan to plan. We check your benefits with CareFirst before your first visit and tell you what we're given, and we'd ask you to confirm your own coverage with CareFirst as well.
CareFirst is one of the independent companies that make up Blue Cross Blue Shield. It serves Maryland, Washington, D.C., and the part of Northern Virginia closest to D.C., while most of the rest of Virginia is served by Anthem, a different Blue company. Your card names the company behind your plan, so tell us exactly what it says and we'll check that plan. We accept both.
It's a CareFirst plan, but not necessarily the same benefit. CareFirst offers several products, including BlueChoice, and they don't all share one network or one set of benefits, so being in-network with CareFirst doesn't automatically cover every one of them. Tell us the exact plan name on your card and we'll check that specific product before you book anything.
Our closest office is in Woodbridge. Many clients in Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax County choose secure video instead, which works anywhere in Virginia.
Possibly. Insurer directories are updated on the carrier's schedule, not ours, and a practice can be in-network before its listing appears or after a listing has gone stale. Not finding us in CareFirst's provider finder doesn't necessarily mean we can't bill your plan. Call (703) 870-0738 or request an appointment and tell us your plan, and we'll look into it with CareFirst before you commit to anything.
For most people it's a copay — over 95% of our clients receive care with only a copay. Your own cost depends on your policy, how much of your deductible you've met, and how CareFirst processes the claim. The benefits check we run beforehand gives you a working estimate, not a guarantee: the final amount is set when your claim is adjudicated, and any balance left after that is billed to you.
Ultimately the policyholder's. We check benefits with CareFirst as a courtesy before your first visit, and we're glad to do it, but the terms of your plan are an agreement between you and CareFirst. Calling the member services number on your card — and asking specifically about outpatient mental health, psychiatry, and telehealth — is the surest way to know what your plan covers.
Many plans cover a video visit on the same terms as an in-person one, but it varies by policy, so telehealth is part of the same benefits check. We provide secure online care throughout Virginia.
We can often get new clients in the same week, and established clients are usually seen sooner. Availability moves with demand and with which provider you're matched to, so the only real answer is a current one — request an appointment or call (703) 870-0738 and we'll tell you what's actually open. Checking your CareFirst benefits happens alongside scheduling, so it doesn't hold up your first visit.
Coverage is decided by your plan, and sometimes that only becomes clear once a claim has been processed. Where a service isn't covered, you can pay privately at our published rates — $250 for an initial medication management visit, $175 for an initial psychotherapy visit, and $150 for most follow-ups — or we can issue a superbill with the billing codes your insurer needs to consider an out-of-network claim. Uninsured and self-pay clients are also entitled to a written Good Faith Estimate before scheduling, under the No Surprises Act.
Tell us your plan and we'll check your coverage with CareFirst before your first visit, so you start with an estimate rather than a guess.
