Less to explain up front
Context you would otherwise have to translate, like family expectations, faith, and what your household does and does not talk about, can be assumed rather than spelled out.
Godaelli Psychiatry & Mental Health Center is a Black-owned practice. We see children, teens, and adults in Woodbridge, Fredericksburg, and Stafford, and online across Virginia, Maryland, and D.C.

Godaelli was founded by Dr. Elizabeth Onyejekwe, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with more than 30 years in nursing, psychiatry, and community-based care. She built the practice around a simple idea: when people feel heard, seen, and understood, healing begins.
It has since grown to 9 board-certified providers. Our providers include Black clinicians, and the team speaks English, Hindi, Igbo, and Twi. Care is delivered by psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, in person at three Virginia offices and by secure video.
We put that on a page because it is otherwise difficult to find out. Most practice websites publish credentials and an insurance list and leave the rest to guesswork, which is a poor way to choose someone you are about to tell the truth to.

Some people want a provider who shares their culture. Some want one who has simply met people like them before. Both are reasonable, and neither should be an awkward question to have to ask on the phone.

The same sleep problem or irritability can mean different things in different lives. A provider who recognizes the setting asks better follow-up questions.
Plenty of people arrive having been dismissed somewhere else. Starting from a place where that is understood, rather than argued, saves the first few sessions.
Every provider profile lists the languages they speak, the ages they see, what they treat, and whether they are taking new clients, so you can decide before you call rather than after. Browse the full team.
Every provider practices in English. Beyond that, these are the languages our clinicians speak, and who speaks them.
Our providers care for children to seniors, individually and as families. Which ages a given clinician sees is listed on their profile, so you can match a child, a teenager, or a parent to the right person.
